Leathernecks fall to Louisville

Ill concludes hot trip in Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Kent. – The Leatherneck softball team ended their Kentucky road trip with a 15-0 loss to Louisville on Wednesday afternoon in five innings.
Western Illinois' Ami Ill continued her torrid play at the plate in the Bluegrass State, extending her hitting streak to six games with a 1-1 performance. Ill added a pair of walks
Ill went 7-15 during the Kentucky swing and is 8-18 during the hitting streak.
Ill picked up a single in the first inning but was stranded at second in the inning.
The Cardinals then went to work on offense, scoring six first-inning runs.
Louisville would tack on three more in the second.
Ill reached base again via a walk and Georgia Rea followed with a single but that would be all WIU did to threaten in the third.
Bella Alvarez added Western's other hit.
Western Illinois is off on Thursday before returning to the road to take on St. Louis in a three-game in two-day series.
The Leathernecks and Billikens meet Friday at 5 p.m. then resume their series with a Saturday doubleheader that starts with a noon first-pitch.
