Western Illinois men's golf will look to continue its winning ways as they head to Diamondhead, Miss., to compete in the 2022 Gulf Coast Collegiate hosted by New Orleans University and Nicholls State University. The Leathernecks will battle at the Diamondhead Country Club Pine Course, a par 72, 6769-yard course. Fans can stay updated with the invitational with the live stats link here.

Words From Coach Lia | "The men are ready to get out of the snow and head down to Mississippi. Diamondhead Golf Club is a challenging course with narrow fairways, so accuracy is once again important," said WIU Director of Golf Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. "Our recent win will help us play with confidence as we move into the middle of our spring season."

Sweet Victory | The combo of Cameron Karney and Parker Govern proved to be the difference-maker to give Western Illinois the tournament crown in the 2022 ASU Spring Classic. Karney placed second overall with a score of +6 over par. His best round was in round two, where he shot a +2 overall with three birdies. Govern finished just a few strokes above Karney to place t-third. Govern had a great opening round where he ended with three birdies to score a +1 over par. All five Leathernecks ended within the top-16 in the event.

Playing Field | Western Illinois will be one of 14 competitors at the Gulf Coast Collegiate and will be the lone representative from the Summit League. Along with host Nicholls State and New Orleans, WIU will compete alongside Alabama A&M, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Central Arkansas, Incarnate Word, Long Island, North Alabama, Prairie View A&M, Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F Austin, Tennessee Martin, and Troy.

The Leathernecks just faced off with Alabama A&M and Arkansas Pine Bluff at the 2022 ASU Spring Classic and will look to have similar success in their third invitational of the spring season.
