Men’s Golf Concludes First Spring Invitational

Western Illinois battled 14 competitors in the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational.

ST. GEORGE, UTAH- Western Illinois men's golf began its spring season competing in the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational, hosted by Southern Utah University. The Leathernecks took 13th place in the three-day invitational with an overall score of +45. Full results can be found here.
 
"It was great to be back in action. Cam and Parker were very consistent and could have capitalized on a few birdie opportunities," said WIU Director of Golf Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. "We need to eliminate our trouble holes and improve our misses for Alabama."
 
Cameron Karney had the top performance for WIU, with an overall score of +5 over par. Karney's top round was on Sunday with round three. He birdied on the first hole and shot par on 16 of the final 17 holes to go even in the final round.
 
Parker Govern shot just one stroke above Karney with an overall score of +6 over par. Govern's top day was his second round on Saturday, with a score of +1 over par. Govern boogied on holes four through six but ended on a great note with a pair of birdies to end the round.

Western Illinois men's golf will be back in action Sunday (Feb. 20) through Monday (Feb. 21) as they head to Prattville, Ala., to take part in the 2022 ASU Spring Classic, hosted by Alabama State University.
