Tennis faces big weekend at SEMO

Leathernecks take on SEMO and play in Redhawk Invite

The Western Illinois women's tennis team wraps the fall portion of their schedule this weekend, making the trip to Cape Girardeau.
 
The Leathernecks play Southeast Missouri in a doubles round on Friday before playing in the Southeast Missouri Redhawk Invitational on Saturday. Play will be held at the John C. Bierk Redhawks Tennis Complex.
 
The Leathernecks are 1-0 this fall, winning a dual match at St. Ambrose 7-0 on September 18. In that match, Western Illinois had singles victories from Aina Cortina-Pou, Lara Diniz de Souza, Lorena Castellanos, Lucky Kancherla, Agatha Carbonell and Paige Grice.
 
In the doubles portion of the match the teams of Castellanos and Maria Rybka, Grice and Carbonell and Kancherla and Cortina-Pou all scored wins.
 
Western Illinois was dominant, not dropping a single set in the sweep, while only dropping 13 games.
