Leathernecks go 1-2 at SEMO

Western tops Southern Indiana on the court

The Western Illinois women's tennis team went 1-2 over the weekend, falling to Southeast Missouri twice, then picking up a victory over Southern Indiana to close out the fall season with a 2-2 record.
 
The Leathernecks opened the weekend, falling to the Redhawks on Friday. The duo of Agatha Carbonell and Lorena Castellanos earned the lone Leatherneck victory, winning their match 6-4.
 
On Saturday, SEMO topped WIU once again. Later in the day, Western Illinois closed out the weekend with a win, defeating Southern Indiana.
 
Paige Grice (7-6, 6-7, 10-6), Lara Diniz de Souza (6-2, 6-2), Lorena Castellanos (7-6 {7-2}, 6-0), Agatha Carbonell (6-0, 6-3) Lucky Kancherla (6-7, {5-7}, 6-3, 11-9) and Maria Rybka (8-3) all earned victories in singles play.
 
In doubles, the teams of Paige Grice and Kancherla (6-4) secured the win for Western Illinois.
 
The Leathernecks are now off until resuming the season in the spring.
