What | Bradley Intercollegiate

Western Illinois men's and women's cross country will head to Peoria, Ill., to participate in the Bradley Intercollegiate, hosted by Bradley University. Results of the race can be found here.

Coach Trey's Thoughts | "Coming off a perfect score two weeks ago at our home opener, the program is very excited to compete at Detweiller Park in Peoria this weekend. Detweiler is home to the Illinois high school state cross country championships and athletes love the way the course runs," said head coach Trey Brokaw. "It's flat, fast, and the competition should be good this weekend; last year there were over 400 competitors in the men's and women's races combined. Madison Trevena and Habibu Moise led the program two weeks ago in our home opener. I look forward to seeing who on our roster can push the pace with those individuals up front. With six weeks until the Summit League Championships, this competition should show us a lot about what kind of team we are."

Starting Times | The women's three mile race will begin at 5:15 p.m. and the men's 8K race is set to begin at 6 p.m.

Continuing Success | The women's team had seven straight athletes cross the finish line in WIU's first meet of the season at the WIU Early Bird Invite. Freshman Madison Trevena placed first overall in her first collegiate race (14:57.5).

The women's team also had three athletes set a new 4K personal best. Mackenzie Goldring placed 2nd overall (15:30.5), Elyse Mathews placed 5th overall (16:09.3), and Kaitlyn Matthews placed 6th overall (16:51.0).

Moise Looks To Lead The Way | Habibu Moise led the way for the Leathernecks men's team in the Early Bird Invite to place third overall. Moise has led Western in his past two races and will look to lead the team at Bradley.

2019 Results | The Bradley Intercollegiate is a familiar race for the Leathernecks, having had success in the race in 2019. Western faced off against 19 other universities in the race, with the women's team placed sixth overall, and the men's team placing 11th.
