Western Men Fall to Drake

Jaylen Drummond earned his first career start as the team dropped its second-straight game.

DES MOINES, IOWA - The Western Illinois University men's soccer team played their weekend finale on Monday (Aug. 30), losing to the Drake Bulldogs 1-0 at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines, Iowa.

Jaylen Drummond earned his first career start and Alex Flowers got his first of the season as the Leathernecks looked to rebound after Thursday's loss to Central Methodist. The second half saw WIU continue its onslaught of shots but they weren't able to get a goal and the game finished in favor of the Drake Bulldogs.

In total the Leathernecks finished out shot their counterparts 14-6, took nine corner kicks, and forced the Drake goalkeeper to make four saves. The defense drew Drake attackers into seven offsides, and the team combined to draw 13 fouls.
