DiGrado Scores First Career Goal in Draw at Bradley

Devan DiGrado scored his first career goal on Thursday (April 8) night.

PEORIA, Ill. - After adding a non-league match up earlier in the day, the Western Illinois men's soccer team (2-8-2) played to a 1-1 draw at Bradley (2-6-2) on Thursday (April 8) night.

Through the first 67 minutes, WIU was held to two shots until Damian Rincon had an opportunity at goal that led to the Leathernecks outshooting the opposition 7-1 in regulation.

Western found the back of the net late in the second half. Kyle Owen fired a shot on a goal that was saved, and Devan DiGrado (86') collected the loose ball for his first career goal.

The goal marked the eighth Neck that has scored this season and the assist by Owen also marked the ninth different player with one this season.

The Braves took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute off a corner that resulted in a scrum in the box at the far post.

In overtime, WIU launched four shots. Daisuke Otsuka led the way with a career-high six shots on the night. He had three total looks in overtime and put one on frame with four seconds left in regulation but was saved.

Neither side could score in overtime as Alex Flowers ended with three saves.

The Leathernecks conclude the season next Saturday (April 17) at Eastern Illinois.
