MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois Athletics has sold well over 100 items since launching its online apparel and gear site back in December.
The site, located at wiu.edu/leatherneckgear, gives Leatherneck fans the opportunity to purchase game-worn jerseys and shorts, mini-helmets, practice jerseys, and much more. Over 300 unique items are still available, and can be shipped right to your door. Buyers also have the option to pick-up their items at Western Hall.
"We've been thrilled with the response to the site since launching three months ago," said Director of Athletics Danielle Surprenant. "Our fans obviously have a great passion for the Leathernecks, and this site is just another way for them to connect to the purple and gold."
Items are available from several WIU sport programs, including football, men's basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball. A popular item thus far has been the WIU mini-helmets, which are still available in purple, white, and gold. All proceeds from the online sales go to WIU Athletics, and will support nearly 400 WIU student-athletes.
This is yet another fan/community engagement opportunity that is part of the Leathernecks March On initiative. The goal of Leathernecks March On is to increase Leatherneck Club participation to 800 members and to give those members the opportunity to support WIU student-athletes as they navigate the challenges of COVID-19. Please note that purchases of apparel and gear do not count as Leatherneck Club gifts.
