Road Journey Continues at Oral Roberts

Kickoff | The Western Illinois women's soccer team continues its road stretch with a series at Oral Roberts this weekend.   

COVID-19 Protocols / Tickets | ORU Athletics will be allowing up to 600 fans at the games, fans will be required to wear a mask. For more information visit here 

Between the Pipes | This season three goalies have made appearances in goal. The trio of Isabel Navas Rodgriguez, Lauriane Castonguay, and Megan Rasmussen have combined for a league-leading 53 saves. Rasmussen has totaled 21 in her last four starts. 

Two Cups of Tea | Amy Andrews scored her second career multi-goal game in the series opener at South Dakota and is the team-leader in goals (2). 

The Attack | Andrews (15), Jenna Lundgren (12), Natalie Nagle (11), and Zoe Clarke (11) all have fired double-digit shots this season. 

A List of Firsts | The 2021 season has marked a collection of career firsts. Nagle scored her first career goal vs. KC for the first WIU goal of the season. Emma Brinkmann, Angie Knies, Ella Kiely, Maddie Hasken, Isabel Navas Rodriguez, Megan Rasmussen, Bailey Burlingham, and Audrey Narine have all made their first career start.

Scouting the Opponent | ORU is 0-7-0 overall and was recently swept at Omaha last weekend… three players have netted a goal… the series favors the Golden Eagles 9-13… last year Oral Roberts edged Western 1-0 with a golden goal in the 110th minute. 

Back of the Net | WIU returns 100 percent of their goal scorers from last season, led by Amy Andrews, who had a team-leading six goals and wrote her name into the individual match-record for points (4) and goals (2) in a game vs. UIC. She now sits tied seventh all-time for game-winning goals with three.

Preseason Recognition | Defenders Lauryn Peters and Bridget Schuler were both named 2021 Summit League Preseason Players to Watch. The duo anchored four shutouts and started all 18 games, and played all 1660 minutes last year. The pair have continued the tradition and have missed a minute so far this season.
