Men's Soccer Falls to Milwaukee

MACOMB, ILL. – The Western Illinois University Fighting Leatherneck men's soccer team played on Tuesday (Oct. 5), falling 3-1 to the Milwaukee Panthers at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.
 
The Leathernecks made the game's first move with an impressive goal in the 19th minute. Jesse Agyekum cut in towards goal near the top corner of the Panther 18-yard box and played a simple cross to Daisuke Otsuka, who took fired a rocket from the edge of the box and gave Western Illinois a one goal advantage.
 
At half, it was 1-0 in favor of WIU and both teams were close in several statistical categories. Both Western and Milwaukee had three shots and one corner kick, with Alex Flowers making two saves to the Panther goalkeeper's one. The Leathernecks drew six fouls and committed five.
 
Milwaukee took control of the game with a four-minute stretch that included three goals; one in the 55th, 56th, and 58th minutes, respectively. Neither team would score the rest of the way and it finished 3-1.
 
19 different Leathernecks played in the game, six of whom played the full 90 minutes. Blaise Snabes made his season debut, playing 36 minutes and recording a shot on goal. The team finished with three shots (two on goal), taking two corner kicks and drawing ten fouls. Alex Flowers got the start in net and made four saves during the game.
 
The Leathernecks are on the road for their next appearance, facing Oral Roberts on Saturday (Oct. 9). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Case Soccer Complex in Tulsa.
