Words From Coach Brokaw | "The team is very excited for the competition this weekend down in Tulsa. The weather looks to be near-perfect, and my understanding is that the course runs pretty fast," said head coach Trey Brokaw. "Both teams will be looking to improve upon their performances at last year's Summit League Championships. I believe both teams are prepared to take that step forward as a program."

Looking To Stop Trends | A recent trend at the Summit League Championships has been success from South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits have taken the last five men's championships and took last year's women's championship. The Leathernecks will look to stop the Jackrabbits winning trend and capture a league championship in coach Brokaw's first season as head coach.

New Leader At The Helm | The cross country team welcomed first-year head coach Trey Brokaw over the summer as the new head coach for cross country and track and field. The Macomb, Ill., native looks to set a new identity for WIU, and eyes the Summit League Championships as the first test to take a step in the new direction.

Season Recap | Western Illinois competed in four regular-season events during the fall and looks to use those experiences to help guide them to success in Tulsa. The Leathernecks competed in the WIU Early Bird, Bradley Intercollegiate, Gans Creek Classic, and Bradley Pink Classic.

Season Highlights | With so many races, the Leathernecks saw a lot of highlights over the season to draw a lot of attention. At the WIU Early Bird Invite, the entire women's team crossed the finish line before any of their competitors came close. Madison Trevena finished first overall in her first collegiate race in the 4k event (14:57.5).

At the Bradley Intercollegiate, the women continued their success and placed third overall. In a field of 75 runners, the Leathernecks had four of their eight runners place in the top 25. Trevena led the way again to place 15th overall (18:20.0). Habibu Moise had a big day for the men's team at Bradley, placing 12th overall in a field of 95 runners (25:51.8).

After frustrating results at the Gans Creek Classic, both teams bounced back and finished the regular season strong at the Bradley Pink Classic. Paulina Wuestefeld set a new 6k personal record to have WIU's best finish of the race (22:42.6). Mackenzie Goldring also set a new 6k personal record for the team's second best finish (22:56.9). Habibu Moise had his best 8k time at Western Illinois to have the best finish for the men (25:39.7).

Moise Leading The Way | If one member of the cross country team was consistent this season, it was definitely Habibu Moise. Moise led the men's team in every single race this season, with his best finish coming at the WIU Early Bird invite, where he placed third overall.
