Jeter Brings in All-American Will Carius

Will Carius earned All-American status at local Monmouth College.

MACOMB, Ill. – The newest member of the Western Illinois men's basketball team has local ties, head coach Rob Jeter announced Friday (May 1).

Will Carius will enjoy his final season of eligibility as a Leatherneck, after two seasons of play at Monmouth College.

"I'm excited to add Will to this group of incoming student-athletes," said Jeter. "As a graduate transfer, he will provide instant experience and leadership. He's a versatile forward who knows how to score inside and out. A perfect fit for our offensive system."

Carius' basketball career includes a long list of accolades. At Monmouth, he was named All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and D3Hoops.com as well as the Midwest Conference Player and Newcomer of the Year.

He led the Scots in scoring and rebounding during his junior season, averaging 25.5 points and 11.0 boards, while also setting the program's single-season scoring record with 664 points.

Carius comes to Western with 1, 277 career points, and will join Adam Anhold, Justin Brookens, Cameron Burrell, JJ Flores, Rod Johnson, and Braden Lamar as members of Jeter's first WIU recruiting class.
