A Year of Academic Excellence

The 2018-19 season featured the first and second highest term GPAs in departmental history.

MACOMB, Ill. – There are a few sports still in session, but Western Illinois Athletics can close the book on its spring semester with the second highest grade point average in departmental history. Forty-seven student-athletes crowned the spring slate with a 4.0 GPA,129 with a 3.6 or higher, and 237 at 3.0 or better; collectively, the department laid claim to a 3.197.

The semester marked the 24th consecutive where the athletic department finished with a higher term GPA than the Macomb campus' general student body (3.086). Leatherneck student-athletes truly made the 2018-19 season their best yet, as the fall captured the highest term mark to date at 3.199.
