The Leathernecks will take on three different teams including eighth-ranked Georgia.

MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois softball team begins spring break at the UGA Classic hosted by the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens, Ga. Admission to all games is free.

Schedule (All Times Central):
Saturday, March 9, 9:30 a.m. | Western Illinois vs. Bowling Green
Saturday, March 9, 5 p.m. | Western Illinois vs. Elon
Sunday, March 10, 9:30 a.m. | Western Illinois vs. Bowling Green
Sunday, March 10, 12:30 p.m. | Western Illinois at Georgia
Monday, March 11, 5 p.m. | Western Illinois at Georgia

LAST TIME OUT: The Leathernecks dropped all three of their contests in the weather-shortened Alabama State Invitational. Western was shut out twice by Tennessee Tech before taking Eastern Kentucky to extra innings in a 4-3 loss.

SEEING DOUBLES: Sydney Hollings hit four doubles while batting .500 for the series at Western Kentucky.

WE HAVE THE POWER: Six Leathernecks hit the ball out of the park this season, highlighted by two homers apiece by Hailey Duwa and Payton Abbott, who leads the team with nine RBI. Abbott went 5-for-11 at the plate in the Alabama State Invitational.

GETTING EXPERIENCE EARLY: Savannah Rodriguez has made four appearances in the circle including three starts. Danielle Olson delivered a go-ahead base hit down the right field line in the ninth inning against Green Bay on Feb. 8 and is 3-for-13 at the plate so far this season. Kyra Kroll started in one game and has scored two runs as a pinch runner.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS: Out of the MAC, Bowling Green is also 4-7 with all four of its wins coming at the Gardner-Webb University Tournament Feb. 22-24. Elon (11-6-1) hails from the CAA and is riding a four-game winning streak into the UGA Classic. Georgia is ranked eighth in the nation with a 19-2 overall record to back up the hype. Both losses for the Bulldogs are by two runs or less at the hands of Indiana and Virginia Tech.

LOOKING AHEAD: WIU stays in the southeast for a doubleheader at Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday (March 13) starting at noon in Daytona Beach, Fla.
