Men's Golf Travels to Florida in Spring Play

Western Illinois will participate in the Benbow Invitational hosted by Butler in Jacksonville, Fla.

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois men's golf team resumes the spring schedule at the Benbow Invitational. The two-day event is hosted at Blue Sky Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla. (Par 72, 6,784).

QUOTABLE:
"I'm excited to be able to field two teams for Butler's event in Jacksonville," interim head coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen said. "We will be building on our success in Alabama, as well as working on our short game once we see some green grass."
 
LAST OUTING: 
The Western Illinois men's golf team maintained second place with a combined score of 900 (+36) after a team round of 296 on the final day of the Alabama State Spring Golf Kickoff at the Lagoon Park Golf Course on Tuesday (Feb. 26).

Kyle Irlbacker was right at par at 72 in his last round for a combined score of 219 (+3) to finish in a tie for second place overall. Jackson Wetherbee tied for fifth after firing a team-low 71 on the final day to total a 221 (+5).
 
Wyatt Spier collected a 77 during the final round while Cameron Karney shot a 76. The two were neck and neck with Spier turning in a 230 (+14) and Karney a 231 (+15). An 80 wrapped up play for Parker Govern with a 237 (+21).
 
Following a hot start, John Duggan III fell out of the top 10 in a tie for 13th with a combined three-round score of 228 (+12). Joe Burke joined Duggan III in competing as an individual and the Macomb native concluded with a 242 (+26).
 
Alabama State won its own event by 12 strokes over Western with a combined team score of 888 (+24) without turning in a combined score over 300 each round.
