Men's Golf Heads to Savannah for One-Day Event

The Leathernecks are participants in the Savannah State Spring Invitational on Thursday (March 14).

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois men's golf team is competing in the Savannah State Spring Invitational on Thursday, March 14 at Crosswinds Golf Course (Par 72).

QUOTABLE:
"We are looking forward to another round of golf before heading home to what we hope is spring weather," interim head coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen said.
 
LAST OUTING:  
Western Illinois men's golf saw both teams hold steady in the Benbow Invitational at Blue Sky Golf Club on Tuesday (March 12). The purple squad finished in fifth place with a combined two-round team score of 607 and the gold squad concluded eighth (643).

Wyatt Spier wrapped up with a two-round tally of 149 (+5) after a 76 on Tuesday and Jackson Wetherbee shot a 75 for a 152 (+8). Kyle Irlbacker, John Duggan III and Cameron Karney all finished with a 154 (+10) after day two on the purple squad.  
 
Parker Govern led all Leathernecks with a 148 two-round score after a day two team-low of 74. After shooting an 85 in the first round, Joe Burke improved his score by six strokes with a 79 for a total of 164 (+20). Fellow Macomb native, Graham Conrad also shot a 164 (+20) while Nick Ceruzzi (167) and Dennis Reedy (177) rounded out the gold team's card.
 
Albany State (588) came back to win the team trophy by three strokes over host Butler (591).  
 
UP NEXT:
The Leathernecks head back to Illinois and will participate in the Bradley Intercollegiate March 30-31.
