Women’s Soccer Adds Two for 2020 Season

The Leathernecks welcome Emma Brinkmann and Maddie Hasken for next season.

MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois women's soccer team added Emma Brinkmann and Maddie Hasken for the 2020 season on Wednesday (Nov. 20). 

Emma Brinkmann | Defender | Rockford, Ill. (Auburn)

High school: Attended Auburn High School… was a captain on the soccer team both in her freshman and junior year… club team won the State Cup in 2018… enrolled in the Gifted Academy… commended by the National Merit Scholarship Program… member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Born Jan. 13, 2020… daughter of Sarah and John Brinkmann… choose Western because "I really enjoyed spending time with the girls on the team, and because I know that the coaches will support me not only as a player but also as a student"t… coaches Hugh Ward and Frank Mateus listed as a major influence in her sports career, From the beginning of my club career to now they have always pushed me to be the best player I can be."

Assistant Coach Josee Primeau on Brinkmann, "We are very happy to have Emma join our program. Her work ethic and her athleticism will certainly help our team and we are excited to see what next year has in store for her." 

Maddie Hasken | Midfielder | Freeport, Ill. (Freeport)

High School: Prepped at Freeport… 4-year letter winner in soccer for coach Nick Namio… earned All-State her junior year… led the school to the first-ever conference title… two-time All-Conference… Illinois State Scholar… four-time honor roll recipient.

Personal: Born March 14, 2002… daughter of Sarah and Russ Hasken… sister Ally played at WIU in 2018 and now plays at Missouri S&T… joins former teammates Sam Brooks and Cassidy Grunewald… choose Western because "I liked the atmosphere every time I visited and I could tell the team is driven. The team all made me feel very welcomed"... sisters have been a major influence on her sports career since "Growing up they always pushed me to be better and they always gave me high expectations to exceed"... hobbies include playing soccer, hanging out with friends, teaching her dog tricks.  

Assistant Coach Josee Primeau on Hasken, "We've been talking to Maddie for quite some time, and having her join our program will be a great addition for next year. Her technical ability and her drive will help give us some depth. We're looking forward to seeing what next fall brings for her."
