OMAHA, Neb. — Miranda Mathus led the way in the pool for the Western Illinois women's swimming and diving team in a dual meet at Omaha on Friday (Nov. 1). The Mavericks won 199-64 collectively.

Mathus battled Abigail Mitchell of Omaha and was a couple of seconds behind her in the 100-back with a time of 1:01.98. Senior Casey Roberts (25.77) finished third in a 50-free heat that was packed close together at the top.

Mathus took home her first individual victory of the season in the 100-butterfly touching the wall in 1:00.24. Western's top relay team was in the 200-free with Allison Spielman, Roberts, Leslie and Mathus barely finishing in the runner-up position with a time of 1:40.79.

The Leatherneck women have a quick turnaround to join the men's squad at the South Dakota Quad Duals in Sioux Falls, S.D., Saturday (Nov. 2).
