Beebe and Thurman Earn 'Athlete of the Week' Honors

The Summit League rewarded the WIU runners after both recorded new personal-bests

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- Nicole Beebe and Quintin Thurman each garnered 'Athlete of the Week' honors, the Summit League announced Tuesday (Oct. 29).
 
Beebe not only set a personal-best but also a WIU women's cross country program record in the 6K (21:38.5) as she crossed the finish line first at the Leatherneck Open Friday afternoon (Oct. 25). The Canton, Ill., native has led the pack for the Leathernecks all season with four 'Top-10' finishes already under her belt in 2019.

Thurman has continued to improve beat his previous personal-record week after week. The senior marked a career-best 8K time (26:54.9) to win the Leatherneck Open on Friday (Oct. 25), which was nearly 35 seconds better than his last PR set the previous week at Pre-Nationals.
 
Next up is the Summit League Cross Country Championships presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare held in Fargo, N.D., on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Rose Creek Golf Course.
