DENVER, Colo. - After a four-match win streak and three consecutive shutouts, both marks came to an end for the Western Illinois women's soccer team (6-6-1, 2-1-0) in a 3-0 loss to Denver on Thursday (Oct. 10) night.
Snowfall in the area before kick-off moved the match to Diane Wendt Sports Complex.
The Pioneers jumped on the board first. In the 27th minute Natalie Beckman scored her first goal of the season unassisted for a 1-0 lead.
Denver stretched the advantage 2-0 ten minutes later after a successful penalty kick on Beckman's second goal of the game in the 37th minute. Just over a minute into the second half, the Pioneers made it 3-0 on goal by Meg Halvorson (47').
Lauryn Peters and Schuler battled the cold and played all 90 minutes. The duo has not missed one minute this season for a total of 1190 minutes.
WIU regroups and returns home for a host of North Dakota on Sunday (Oct. 13) at 1 p.m.
