Leathernecks Rank Second in the Nation on WBCA Honor Roll

The Leathernecks compiled a 3.751 team grade point average last season, which was only .02 behind top-ranked Green Bay.

ATLANTA — Western Illinois women's basketball landed itself second in the 2017-18 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division I Academic Honor Roll. The Leathernecks compiled a 3.751 team grade point average last season, which was only .02 behind top-ranked Green Bay.

"I'm extremely proud of our team for their performance in the classroom," head coach JD Gravina said. "This group is just special. They are a great combination of basketball talent, high academic achievers, and amazing character student-athletes. They have set the bar so high for this program, and we will continue to strive to reach new heights."

This is the 23rd year that the WBCA has released honor rolls based on the GPAs of all student-athletes on a team's roster for the entire season. Fellow Summit League members South Dakota State (8th), South Dakota (17th) and North Dakota State (T-18th) checked in the top 25 as well.
