The Leathernecks drop the contest 7-0

AUBURN, Ala. - The Western Illinois Leathernecks fell to No. 12 Auburn on Sunday (March 4), 7-0. Western Illinois finished the Wilson/DeMarini Class with a record of 2-3, putting together wins over Western Carolina and UNCW.

Payton Abbott replaced Megan Lotarski in the second inning and struck out three batters over 3.1 innings of work.

Brooke Stulga recorded the Leathernecks' first hit with a single to center field, but was stranded at first base to end the inning. Abbott drew a walk to lead off the fourth inning and advanced to second on a fielder's choice play, but could not cross the plate.

Auburn added a pair of runs in the home half of the fourth inning to push their advantage to 4-0. The Tigers added another two runs in the fifth inning to take the 6-0 lead.
