Western Illinois adds Macomb native Eddie Burke.

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois interim head men's golf coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen announced the signing of Eddie Burke on Wednesday (Nov. 14) for the 2019-20 season.

"I'm very pleased to have Eddie Burke joining Western Illinois in 2019," said Biehl Lukkarinen. "I have known Eddie for over 10 years and it has been a pleasure to see him progress. He had an outstanding high school career, capped off by a record setting senior season. Eddie's consistent play and accuracy will be an asset for our team. I look forward to seeing what he will accomplish at Western. It's fantastic to have local talent choose WIU."

As a senior at Macomb High School, Burke set the all-time low season 9-hole average record at 36.75. This past fall, his senior season 18-hole average was 76.82 while medaling in seven meets and placing in three invitational.

Burke earned All-Conference honors and was the Bombers MVP in 2018. He led his squad to a Regional Championship in 2017 and advanced individually to sectionals three times.
