The Leathernecks wrap up their non-league and road schedule at Bradley.

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois men's soccer concludes its non-league and regular season road slate at in-state rival Bradley at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Western Illinois men's soccer team (3-9-3) notched its first road win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Detroit Mercy (1-13-2) on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Both squads only recorded one shot in the first half and it came in the 30th minute from Max Becker of Detroit Mercy but was blocked by the Western Illinois back line. The match entered halftime scoreless as both defenses shined.

Cesar Cosio fired the first shot of the day for the purple and gold that sailed high in the 51st minute. Off a corner kick by Paul Kirdorf in the 71st minute, Jacob Bjornsen's header attempt was batted up over the crossbar by the Detroit Mercy goalkeeper. Three minutes later, Kirdorf sent the ball into the box and it bounced off Daniel Kadima to Tacuma Sadlow. He spun and fired the ball into the left side of the net for his first goal as a Leatherneck and a 1-0 advantage.

The last chance for the Titans came in the 90th minute on a free kick, but Tim Trilk stopped a header by Garret Weaver on a bounce to get the Leathernecks back in the win column. The 1-0 decision marked the third shutout of the season forced by the Leathernecks.

SCOUTING THE BRAVES:
Bradley is currently 7-4-4 overall and 1-4-0 in the Missouri Valley. The Braves are coming off a 1-1 draw at Oakland on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Their lone conference win came at Drake by a 1-0 decision in overtime on Oct. 20. Western Illinois and Bradley played to a 0-0 tie in their most recent meeting in Macomb last season. The Braves lead the all-time series 16-10-2.

Jim DeRose is 248-187-54 in his 23rd season at the helm. Sophomore forward Gerit Wintermeyer leads the way with six goals and has added three assists. Sophomore midfielder Younes Dayekh is second on the team with eight total points including two goals and a team-high four assists.

COACH JOHNSON'S THOUGHTS:
"Bradley is a quality side and the Braves are having a good year," Director of Soccer Dr. Eric Johnson said. "It's a great rivalry game and we've had some exciting games over the past twenty plus year. We will need to be very good defensively and match their work rate to get a result on the road."

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Leathernecks wrap up the regular season at John MacKenzie Alumni Field against Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, Nov. 3 for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
