Four Leathernecks reached double figures in the victory.

OMAHA, Neb. — Western Illinois surged past Omaha 90-51 Saturday afternoon (Jan. 13) inside Baxter Arena for its third Summit League win of the season.

Led by the game-high 29 points and five three-pointers from Emily Clemens, the Leathernecks improve to 13-5 overall and 3-1 in league play, while the Mavericks fall to 8-8 and 0-4 in Summit League action.

"It's great to finally play well at Omaha, " said head coach JD Gravina. "It's been a tough place to play for us in the past. We really came back with a better offensive mentality and attacked them in several different ways. Our rebounding effort was tremendous as well."

After a Higginbotham basket, Western maintained a 32-15 lead over the Mavericks with 5:47 to go until halftime. The lead increased to 22 points after Michelle Farrow found Morgan Blumer for a corner three-pointer. At the half, Western led the Mavericks 47-20.

Western Illinois opened the second half after Olivia Braun found Blumer on the back-door cut for the first basket of the third, and it was all Leathernecks from there. Western eventually built a 59-27 lead with 4:55 to go in the third. The Leathernecks went on to outscore the Mavericks 23-13 in the quarter to build a 70-33 lead heading into the fourth.
