Women’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Contest At Kentucky

The Leathernecks fell on the road at Kentucky.

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois fell in a 1-0 contest Friday (Sept. 8) at Kentucky. The Leathernecks fell behind in the 20th minute of the match that was scored by the Wildcats off a long-ranged free kick.
 
From there, the Leathernecks could not even up the score and fell to 0-5-0 on the season.
 
"Today's match was a good test for us playing Kentucky. Once we went down 1-0 we began making simple mistakes," said Graduate Assistant Coach Josèe Primeau. "We came out much better in the second half in terms of effort and we were able to work harder off the mistakes. We will now look for a positive result this weekend against Eastern Illinois."
 
Western Illinois looks to pick up its first win of the season and will set its sights for a 1 p.m. matchup at Eastern Illinois on Sept. 10. The six-game road slate concludes at Ball State (Sept. 15) followed by the second home match of the season against Chicago State (Sept. 17).
