Seniors Garret Covington and Jabari Sandifer Recognized by College Sports Madness

Covington was tabbed preseason first team and Sandifer was named preseason fourth team

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois men's basketball senior student-athletes Garret Covington and Jabari Sandifer were recently recognized by College Sports Madness. Covington was named Preseason First Team All-Summit League, while Sandifer was named to the Fourth Team.

Covington, a native of Edwardsville, Ill., led Western and ranked fourth in The Summit League in scoring last season, averaging 17.9 points per game. Covington also led WIU and ranked second in The Summit League in 3-pointers (77). Covington has been tabbed Second Team All-Summit League in each of this first three seasons at Western.

Sandifer, a native of Naperville, Ill., led WIU and ranked second in The Summit League in assists, totaling 128 and averaging 4.7 per game. Sandifer also ranked in the 'Top 10' of The Summit League in assist/turnover ratio (2.0).
