JOLIET, Ill. – Jordan Pannell, a former right-handed pitcher for Western Illinois, signed a contract with the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League. The transaction was announced on Friday (July 1).
Pannell recorded a team-leading 21 relief appearances, finishing with a 2-2 record and 2.95 ERA. He struck out 40 batters in 39.2 innings of work during the 2016 season.
He fanned a season-high six batters in 2.1 innings at North Dakota State in April. He threw a then season- and career-high 4.0 innings at South Dakota State. Pannell followed that the following weekend with 4.1 innings at Oral Roberts.
During his two year career, Pannell made 39 relief appearances. He posted a 4-3 record and 3.25 ERA in 61 innings of work. He allowed 51 hits, struck out 62 and walked 36 with a .232 opponent batting average.
