2016 'Day in the Life'
MACOMB, Ill. – For the final weekend of the 2016 campaign, the Western Illinois volleyball team is preparing to host IUPUI and Omaha for Senior Weekend. On Friday (Nov. 11) in conjunction with a women's basketball doubleheader, the Leathernecks take on the Jaguars at 5 p.m. On Saturday, seniors Kaili Simmons and Krishna Merriman will be honored prior to the 7 p.m. match against Omaha.
 
HOMETOWN HERO DAY: Friday's match is the first part of a doubleheader with the women's basketball home opener against Monmouth. All veterans and hometown heroes will be recognized.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION: The Jaguars are in fifth place in The Summit League with a 7-7 record and are 11-18 overall. After winning five straight league matches, IUPUI has since dropped four straight, including straight set losses to South Dakota and North Dakota State on Nov. 4-5. Kori Waelbroeck leads the team with 360 kills to rank fourth in the league. Her 3.60 kills/set ranks third. Abby Boatman has compiled a team-leading 103 blocks while Alexis Mapes ranks second in The Summit League with 965 assists.
 
The Mavericks are in eighth place in the league with a 4-11 mark and are 7-22 overall. Omaha is currently riding a two-game win streak over South Dakota State and Oral Roberts, both in five sets. Offensively, Amanda Conlin leads the Mavericks with 109 kills, while Ashley Smith has compiled 396 digs.
 
SERIES HISTORY: IUPUI leads the all-time series 27-11. The Leathernecks have not taken a match from the Jaguars since Sept. 27, 2008, a 17-match losing streak. Earlier this season, Western fell 3-0 at IUPUI.
 
Omaha has a slight 5-4 advantage over the Leathernecks. Earlier this season, Western snapped a four-game skid with a 3-1 victory at Omaha. Kaili Simmons compiled a career-high 37 digs to tie for fourth all-time in program history for digs in a single match.
 
A LOOK AT THE LEATHERNECKS: The Leathernecks sit at the bottom of the league standings with a 1-13 mark (4-26 overall). Simmons leads the team with 546, which ranks second in the league along with 5.06 digs/set. Shalyn Greenhaw has 273 kills and is averaging three per set. Melanie Patenaude is averaging 2.05 kills/set in Summit League play, as 86 of her 176 kills have came in league play. Lexi Kolschefski leads the team with 60 total blocks.
