VIDEO: Western Illinois Volleyball "A Day in the Life"

See what it's like to be a Western Illinois student-athlete

MACOMB, Ill. – The Fighting Leatherneck volleyball team reported to fall camp last week in preparation for the 2016 season. Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant Monica Jaenicke followed the team around for a full day of camp to show Leatherneck fans a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to be a student-athlete for the Western Illinois volleyball program.

Head coach Kelly Richardson enters her second year at the helm of the program. The squad returns 10 players (four starters) and welcomes nine newcomers to this year's roster. Western opens the 2016 campaign on August 26 against Akron and Bradley at the Milwaukee Pepsi Panther Invitational. The Leathernecks play their first match inside Western Hall on September 6 against Eastern Illinois.
