Western Illinois Falls At NDSU

The women's soccer program dropped a 3-0 contest to the Bison.

FARGO, N.D. - The Western Illinois women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 contest at North Dakota State in Summit League play on Sunday (Oct. 9).

"It was a tough day for us. It was windy with difficult conditions. North Dakota State was ready on the day and was very physical and energetic in the match," said Director of Soccer Dr. Eric Johnson. "We'll have to regroup and get ready for Omaha."

Western fell into an early 1-0 deficit after three conductive shots from the Bison, capped off by a corner kick off an NDSU shot from the corner that curled in to the goal during the third minute. After trailing by one in at the end of the first half, the next two Bison goals came in the 62nd and 73rd minute.

The Leathernecks fell behind 2-0 after NDSU's Britney Monteon ran the ball down the right side and crossed the ball to Holly Enderle for the goal. The third and final goal came off a header from Mallory Fenske off a high cross.

Individually Christina From, Madeline Edwards and Alexandra Siavelis all recorded a shot in the match, while Jennifer Currie recorded five saves in goal.

The Bison recorded 15 shots in the match (eight on goal) to the Leathernecks' three, with a 6-1 advantage on total corner kicks.

The Leathernecks (3-9-1, 1-3) continue their Summit League competition against Omaha on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2:30 p.m. The match is scheduled to take place at John MacKenzie Alumni Field and will be streamed live through Fighting Leatherneck All-Access.
