Leatherneck Men’s Golf Wraps Up Action in 2015 Bradley Invitational with Fifth-Place Finish

PEORIA, Ill. – The Fighting Leatherneck men's golf squad wrapped up play in the 2015 Bradley Invitational Saturday afternoon (April 4). Western Illinois finished fifth with a 960 after posting single-round scores of 297, 303 and 305.

"We had a lot of great individual performances this weekend at Bradley," said head coach Mel Blasi. "Alex Templin had his best day of the year on Friday with two solid rounds 72 & 75. I was also really pleased with the play of freshman Sean Miller. Sean started the tournament with a quadruple bogey (eight) on his first hole then played the last 17 holes two under par to shoot 74. He really showed a lot of poise in coming back from that start. Lastly, Andrew (Blackburn) was solid for the whole tournament having his best round today with a 73."

Sophomore Andrew Blackburn finished atop Western's team standings with a 225. Blackburn finished tied for 12th and tallied scores of 76, 76 and 73.

Not far behind Blackburn was junior Alex Templin and freshman Sean Miller. Templin finished tied for 14th place with a 226 (72-75-79) and Miller posted a 227 and finished tied for 18th place.

Austin Von Alst finished in a tie for 23rd with a 230. The sophomore golfer posted marks of 75, 77 and 78 throughout the event.

Senior captain Nate Davis rounded out the team's 'Top 5' with a 234. Davis finished in 29th place and with single-round scores of 79, 79 and 76.

Golfing as an individual was sophomore Carter Morrison who finished in 30th place with a 235 (80-81-74).

Summit League foe South Dakota earned the team title with an 880 (285-297-298) and Bradley's Lyle Burns finished first individually with a 210 (69-69-72).

Western continues its regular season next weekend with the NYX Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
