Jalen Morgan Signs With @WIUMensHoops to Complete 2014 Class

The Western Illinois men's basketball program completed its 2014 signing class with the addition of Jalen Morgan (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike).

MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois men's basketball program completed its 2014 signing class with the addition of Jalen Morgan (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike). Head coach Billy Wright made the announcement Monday (June 16).

"Jalen is a versatile forward who can score inside and out", said coach Wright. "He runs the floor well and is an above the rim athlete. His length and athleticism will help on the defensive end as well. Jalen is a fine young man, plays with tremendous passion for the game, and fits in with the culture of our program. Like our other freshmen, he will need to add strength to be able to compete at a high level versus division one opponents."

The 6-8, 185-pound forward averaged 9.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a senior at Pike. Morgan also averaged 0.9 blocks and 0.8 assists per game while playing 20.1 minutes per game.

"With the 2014 recruiting class, we have addressed the needs of the present and the future. We had six scholarships available in April when I was hired as head coach, and I'm pleased with the group that we have put together. We definitely made a lot of progress in recruiting in less than two months on the job. Now we can move forward with the classes of 2015 and 2016," concluded coach Wright.
