MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois freshman guard Garret Covington was tabbed The Summit League's 'Rookie of the Year' by CollegeHoopsDaily.com.
The Edwardsville, Ill. native had previously been tabbed The Summit League's 'Newcomer of the Year'.
Covington led the Leathernecks this season with 14.6 points per game, while finishing second on the team in rebounds per game (4.7), assists per game (1.9), and steals per game (1.0).
He also led the team in starts (27), minutes per game (32.9), field goals (130), three-pointers (70), free throws (92), three-point FG% (38.7), free throw % (80.0), and defensive rebounds (114).
In The Summit League, Covington's 2.4 three-pointers made per game ranks first, 14.6 points per game ranks sixth, free throw % of .800 ranks ninth, 3.9 defensive rebounds per game ranks ninth, and his 32.9 minutes per game ranks 10th.
