LEMONT, Ill. -
The Western Illinois men's golf squad was led by sophomore Andrew Blackburn this weekend (Oct. 4-5) as the Leathernecks wrapped up play in the 2014 John Dallio Memorial Sunday afternoon. The two-day, three-round event was hosted by DePaul at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club.

Blackburn finished the invite with a 76 in the third and final round, giving him a total score of 222 and a fifth-place finish. The sophomore tallied scores of 72 and 74 in the opening day Saturday. Through his 54 holes of play, Blackburn birdied nine holes and had 33 holes where he shot an even par.

"Andrew (Blackburn) had an excellent tournament for us at DePaul," said head coach Mel Blasi. "Shooting two over par in Saturday's conditions was terrific golf, and he finished fifth in a really good field."

It marks the second consecutive invite in which a WIU golfer has finished in the 'Top 5', and the Leathernecks have had someone finish in the 'Top 10' in every fall event. Senior Nate Davis finished tied for 8th-place in the fall-opener in Edwardsville, Ill., and tied for third-place in the Leathernecks' last outing in Normal, Ill.

Davis finished tied for 35th-place with a 237. Davis carded scores of 79 and 78 on day one before tallying an 80 in the final round.

Freshman Sean Miller also finished in the 'Top 50'. In his first career event, Miller tallied a score of 243 with scores of 83, 80 and 80.

Sophomore Carter Morrison and junior Alex Templin finished tied for 62nd and 64th, respectively. Morrison recorded a 251 (86-78-87), while Templin finished with a 253 (83-86-84).

Tanner Ludwig, who was golfing as an individual, finished tied for 49th-place with a 244. Ludwig hit scores of 81, 82 and 81.

As a team, the Leathernecks finished tied for 10th with a 947 (317-310-320).

Western's next action is slated for next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 13-14) in Overland Park, Kan. for the Bill Ross Intercollegiate hosted by Kansas City.
