MACOMB, Ill. - Registration for the 2012 Western Illinois volleyball summer camps continues, but the registration deadline of July 1st is fast approaching. The three camps will take place July 11-13 at Western Hall and will be conducted by first-year head coach April Hall with the assistance of several Western Illinois players.
"I am very excited to hold my first summer camp at Western Illinois," said Hall, who took over the volleyball program on February 20. "Our players have stated how much they have enjoyed interacting with campers in the past. We will improve each campers volleyball skills and have a lot of fun along the way. The entire program is looking forward to a successful camp experience."
Western Illinois volleyball will
host the Purple Camp for players ages 10-13, the Gold Camp for players ages 14
& Up, and the Positional camp for campers ages 14 & Up. Campers at the
Western Illinois volleyball camps will be able to take advantage of individual
instruction made possible by a roughly four-to-one camper to staff ratio.
The Purple Camp will take place July
12-13 while the Gold Camp takes place July 11-13. Both camps focus on technique
training and drills that cover the six basic skills of volleyball: passing,
digging, attacking, setting, blocking and serving.
The Positional Camp will take place
July 11-13, and will focus on specialized training for setters, hitters and
liberos. Players will be separated up into groups to break down
position-specific techniques and the camp will culminate with the three
positions working together.
