INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Junior middle hitter Erin Frick led Western Illinois with 13 kills and was a part of six-of-10 Western blocks, but it wasn't enough as IUPUI rallied to win three straight sets to take the match, 4-1.

"Erin continues to do a good job of finding ways to score offensively and tonight she also made some solid blocking adjustments," Western Illinois head coach Kym McKay said. "It's nice to see her in so many consecutive matches of having offensive contribution."

The Westerwinds (7-16, 3-6 The Summit League) used a .393 team hitting percentage to defeat the Jaguars (12-11, 5-4 The Summit League) in the first set, 25-21. Western had as much as a five-point lead at 21-16 before IUPUI rattled off four straight points to come within two and another kill by each team brought the score within one at 21-20. A pair of kills by Monique Houston, a kill by Krissy Bergquist and an attack error on IUPUI allowed Western to close out the set.

"Both teams played well and there were a lot of great rallies as expected," McKay said. "There were a lot of great plays on both sides of the net, the difference was that IUPUI had an offensive edge with more kills."

IUPUI rallied to take the final three sets, 25-19, 27-25 and 25-21. The Jaguars had improved their team hitting percentage over the Westerwinds in two of the final three sets as Western had a .341 hitting percentage in the third set. Summit League kill leader Kalyse Reimbold led IUPUI with 27 kills, while two others recorded kills in the double digits.

Houston led Western with Frick in recording 13 kills. Sarah Trimpe had 42 assists and Elise Crnjak led four Westerwinds in double-digit digs with 22.

The Westerwinds continue Summit League play as they travel to Rochester, Mich., for a 2 p.m. match against league leader Oral Roberts, Sunday.
