Biography

Former Western Illinois volleyball player Sarah Trimpe joined the Fighting Leathernecks volleyball coaching staff as a student assistant coach prior to the 2009 season. Trimpe's primary duty with the team is assisting with the setters. She is pursuing her bachelor's degree in history education at Western.

Playing career at Western Illinois
2008 (senior season): Used 1,075 season assists (fifth most assists in a season in WIU history) to break the Western Illinois career assist record (4,150)...ranks second in school history for career assists per game, averaging 9.63...finished her career with her name appearing 10 times in Western's record book...ranked third in The Summit League for total assists in the season...performed a pair of triple-doubles with her first in the third match of the season against Indiana State (08/30/08) and her second against Bradley (09/23/08)...went 31 straight matches with double-digit assists...had a season-high 51 assists against Southeast Missouri State (09/13/08)...recorded the second most number of service aces (27) on the team...finished the season with 350 digs, the second most of her teammates....had 17 matches with dig numbers in double figures...recorded a season-best 27 digs against UIC (10/21/08)...opened the season with her best season hitting percentage of .571 (8k,0e,14ta) against Lipscomb (08/29/08)...had the fourth most blocks (46) and fifth most kills (163) for the Westerwinds...named to the Summit League Fall Academic All-League Team.

2007 (junior season): Moved up to the No. 2 position on Western’s all-time assists list (3,075)...tallied a career-high 78 assists against North Dakota State (November 2), good for the No. 3 spot on the assists in a match top-10 list...also tied for sixth on the same list with 70 assists against IPFW (October 13)...her 1,177 assists in 2007 were good for the No. 3 spot on the assists in a season list...ranked third in the conference against league opponents for her 11.81 assists per game and seventh in the league for her 10.66 assists per game against all opponents...recorded a career-best 30 digs at Oakland (November 10)...led the team with 21 double-doubles...tallied career highs with 12 kills and 27 total attempts at Loyola (September 11).

2006 (sophomore season): Recorded a career-high 70 assists in Western’s five-game loss to Valparaiso in the Mid-Con Tournament Semifinals...achieved her first triple-double (11 kills, 43 assists, 14 digs) in a 3-1 win at Oakland, November 3...tallied 55 assists in the five-game victory over Valparaiso October 6...recorded 11 kills with a .455 hitting percentage, against Oakland November 3...sixth in the Mid-Con in assists with 699 and 8.52 per game in 82 appearances...captured 14 digs twice in wins against Butler (September 9) and Oakland (November 3)...earned Academic All-Mid-Con honors.

2005 (freshman season): Honored as the Mid-Con Freshman of the Year...placed third in the conference at 0.40 service aces per game...led the team with 10.55 assists per game, the fifth-best season average in Western history...tallied 1,129 assists, the third-most in a season at Western...became the first freshmen in school history to reach 1,000 assists...ranked fourth on the team in digs with 2.09 per game...achieved double-digit digs in 10 matches.

High School
Led Normal Community to the Big 12 Conference Championships from 2001 to 2004...team placed fourth in state in 2001, third in 2002, and were qualifiers in 2003 and 2004...garnered academic all-conference honors her junior and senior years...named to all-area and all-conference by The Pantagraph in 2004...earned all-America honors at the 2005 AAU Junior National Championships in Orlando, Fla. in June 2005.

Daughter of Robert and Lynda Trimpe...born October 3, 1986...majoring in history teacher education...older sister Megan played volleyball at Illinois College and younger sister Alyssa plays at Samford.
