Mens Tennis Wins Close Match Against Olivet Nazarene University

MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois men?s team pulled out a 6-1 victory against Olivet Nazarene University on Friday, after falling behind early. In doubles action Tiu and Wittenberg were the lone winners as they defeated Luis Loyola and Leandro Viltard 8-5, which unfortunately was not enough to help secure the point.Western captured all 6 singles positions led by sophomore Martin Bostr?m (Stockholm, Sweden), 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 1 position, junior Justin Junck (Sioux City, Iowa) 5-7, 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 2 position, and senior Sisay Selassie (Naperville, Ill.) 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 3 postion respectively. Freshman Neil Lesinski (Grayslake, Ill.) , Sean Ragee-Nelson (Decatur, Ill.) and sophomore Mike Tiu (Naperville, Ill.) also captured singles victories at the 4, 5, and 6 spots.Head Coach Michael Hunt was very pleased with the victory today. ?I am extremely relieved to have won today. Olivet Nazarene University is a very talented team nationally ranked in the NAIA, we were fortunate to win. Being down 1-0 after doubles as well as being down in three of the first sets of singles, we could?ve been done. I am very proud of our team for coming back and winning it.?The Leathernecks are now 6-5 on the season and will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Saint Louis, and again at 4 p.m. against South Dakota State.
