MACOMB, Ill. - Former Western Illinois University linebacker Phil Archer helped lead the Amsterdam Admirals to their first NFL Europe league title Saturday, defeating the Berlin Thunder, 27-21, in World Bowl XIII.Archer, who played on the Leathernecks? 2003 squad, started at middle linebacker, registering three tackles and a half-sack. After opening up a 24-7 lead in the third quarter, Amsterdam watched the Thunder rally to set up a potential game-winning drive in the final minute, which Amsterdam?s defense foiled.Archer was selected in the seventh round of the 2005 NFLE Free Agent Draft and ranked fifth on the team in total tackles this year, recording 40 stops during the 10-week schedule.
