The Western Illinois University baseball team fell for the second day in a row at Oklahoma as the Sooners handed the Leathernecks an 11-2 loss.Western Illinois (4-6) held Oklahoma (6-2) scoreless for the first four innings of play. The Leathernecks posted their two lone runs of the game in the fifth inning when leadoff batter Nick Simmons recorded the third hit of the game. Designated hitter Joe Pacyga moved Simmons to second on one of Oklahoma pitcher Steven Guerra?s two walks in five innings. Jake Gloude launched an RBI single into the outfield to score Simmons, and T.J. Kistner followed that by moving Pacyga to third on a fielder?s choice. Jim Sanew sent Pacyga home for Western?s last run on a sacrifice.Oklahoma answered back in the same inning by posting one run. In the sixth, Western pitcher Pat Kohorst (3-1) gave up six runs on seven hits to record his first loss of the season. The Sooners? pitcher Will Savage (1-0) took the win, pitching a perfect game throughout the final four innings and striking out four Western batters.Oklahoma was led by shortstop Freddy Rodriguez who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Third-baseman Kevin Smith notched two runs of his own and two RBI, and pinch-hitter Ryan Rohlinger also had two RBI. Western will play it?s final game of the three-day, three-game series with Oklahoma Monday at 3 p.m.
