Veroni Highlights 2004 Fastpitch Coaches Clinic in Ohio

MACOMB, Ill. - Kathy Veroni, head coach of the Western Illinois University softball program, was one of four speakers that highlighted the 2004 Ohio High School Fastpitch Coaches Association Coaches Clinic January 16-17 in Columbus, Ohio. With over 600 coaches in attendance, Veroni presented three 45-minute presentations titled ?Fielding Technique and Drills?, ?Unique Softball Research? and ?Hitting Drills and Stations?. In ?Fielding Techniques and Drills,? Veroni presented individual, partner, group and team drills. These drills ranged from simple to complex and can be done in either indoor or outdoor practice settings. ?Unique Softball Research? took a close look at the bat as an aid, technology using an iMac, batting order or batting lineup, linear weights, coach?s decision to manufacture runs and video taping and recruiting. Veroni took things further in ?Hitting Drills and Stations?, using a skills and drills video that she personally produced as an iMac movie to highlight 17 hitting drills.Veroni, one of the winningest coaches in NCAA softball history, has 816 career wins in the past 32 years as Western Illinois? head coach. Veroni led the Westerwinds to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2000 and 2001.A respected administer and clinician, Veroni authored Coaching Fastpitch Softball Successfully, a 248-page manual which uses her extensive coaching knowledge to outline softball skills and program management. Her latest book, Off The Bench, is a compilation of photos and technical points of interest, mixed with anecdotal quotes and the words of sports figures and philosophers. She also was a contributing author for The Softball Coaching Bible, which was published in 2002.Special thanks to Jen Tyrrell for her work with this release.
