MACOMB, Ill. - The head coach of the Western Illinois University softball program, Kathy Veroni, will be a featured speaker at the Base Sports Best midwest coaching clinic in Toledo, Ohio. The clinic will run from November 13-15 and over 600 high school baseball and softball coaches will be in attendance.The primary topic for a handful of presentations will revolve around individual and team drills. This will cover defensive drills for two, three or four athletes, as well as complex team drills and advanced team drills. Also, Veroni and her staff have been working on research involving batting order, a designed formula to measure a hitters? ability, coaching decisions at the College World Series and which decisions succeed and which fail. This research on the CWS and additional discussions on video taping and recruiting will round out the weekend of interactive lectures.Veroni, now in her 33rd year as the head coach of the Westerwinds, eclipsed the 800-win mark last season and was a featured speaker at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Conference last January in St. Petersburg, Fla.
