HIGH SCHOOL: She competed in the JVA and AAU tournaments with Club Fusion Volleyball out of Marengo, Ill. Kline scored a 492.9 in the AVCA VPI. She was in the top 20 percent of collegiate athletes who have completed the process. Not only did Kline compete in volleyball, she also made her mark in gymnastics. Kline Competed in power tumble and trampoline for eight years; she qualified for USA Gymnastics Nationals/Junior Olympics competition three years in a row for tumbling, trampoline and double mini. She also qualified for the Illinois State track meet as part of the team for the 4x200 meter relay during freshman year of high school. Kline received honor roll and English departmental awards. 
 
Why she chose Western: "God opened this door for me and gave this amazing opportunity; everything came together when I attended camp and visited the campus. I couldn't be more blessed and grateful to have the chance to be a part of the team at WIU. I am so excited for the relationships and experiences that the next few years will bring." 
 
Coach's Comments: "What really grabbed our attention first with Alaina was her work ethic and positive energy she brings to the floor every time she steps out. She is constantly communicating, and would run through a wall before she'd let a ball hit the ground. Alaina will bring more consistency and confidence to our defense this fall. She's a good leader, and will push those around her to continue getting better."
