Alexa Tovella

Alexa Tovella joined Western Illinois women’s basketball for the 2019-20 year after four seasons as the assistant coach at Wisconsin-Platteville in Platteville, Wisc., where she served as the acting head coach for the 2018-19 season increasing the teams wins and leading the team to the conference tournament for the first time in four years.

Prior to Wisconsin-Platteville, Tovella was a graduate assistant coach at Edgewood College for two seasons where she earned a master's in both leadership in athletic administration and principalship. Before that, she attended Barton College in Wilson, N.C. earning a degree in Health and Physical Education. She is currently receiving her doctorate in leadership. 

A former three-sport student-athlete for the Barton Bulldogs were she also participated in cross country and track and field on top of basketball where she was the team captain making three NCAA appearances. She earned the William Gear Sportsmanship Award and was named to Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll.
