Tony Gallagher enters his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for Western Illinois University.

Gallagher spent the past four seasons as a swimmer for the Leathernecks. He participated in the individual medley, backstroke and freestyle events. In the 200 individual medley, he posted the second fastest time on the team with a time of 2:00.89.

In 2007, Gallagher was a commissioner award recipient and in 2006 was named to the academic all-conference team. He also received Summit League Winter/Spring Academic All-League Team honors in 2006-07 and 2007-08 as well as named to the Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence in 2007-08.

A native of Munster, Ind., Gallagher is pursing a degree in K-12 Education with an emphasis in kinesiology. He plans to graduate in the spring of 2009.
