Coaching Career
After redshirtting as a freshman in 2004 and playing three seasons as a backup quarterback for the Leathernecks, Pete Roley spent the 2008 season as a student coach, assisting with the offensive line and the tight ends. Returning for his second season, Roley will be in charge of the tight ends in 2009.
In addition to his Leatherneck playing career, Roley also played one season, 2008, with the RiverCity Rage of the Indoor Football League. The North Aurora, Ill., native earned his bachelor’s degree in finance in December 2008 and began his coaching duties with the tight ends during spring ball in 2009. He is working toward a master’s degree in sports management.
Playing Career at Western Illinois
2007 (Junior season): Was awarded a letter in his final season... appeared against St. Francis... completed his only attempt for seven yards.
2006 (Sophomore season): Played against Kentucky Wesleyan... did not record any statistics.
2005 (Redshirt-Freshman season): Played against Iowa Wesleyan... did not record any statistics.
2004 (Freshman season): Redshirted
Personal
Son of J.Kurt and Mary Roley... born September 24, 1985... father Kurt played football for Western Illinois... sister Stephanie was a member of the Western Illinois swimming and diving team... earned a bachelors degree in Finance in December 2008.
