Zach Trevino

Zach Trevino is an up-and-coming football coach from Davenport, Iowa, entering his second year on staff at Western Illinois University. Trevino began his coaching career in 2022 as a Strength and Conditioning Intern with the University of Connecticut football program, gaining hands-on experience with Division I athletes and building a strong foundation in performance training. He continued his work in athletic development that fall with the University of Iowa football program.

In 2023, Trevino transitioned to on-field coaching as an assistant at Solon High School (Iowa), contributing to an 11–2 season and a third-place finish in Class 3A. While at Solon, he played a key role in the development of running back Eddie Johnson, who earned First Team All-District and Second Team All-State honors under Trevino’s guidance.

Trevino joined Western Illinois in May 2024 in a Quality Control capacity assisting with the quarterbacks. During the 2024 season, he helped guide the Leathernecks to the No. 1 offense in the OVC–Big South, working directly under Head Coach Joe Davis. He assisted in the development of quarterback Nate Lamb, who finished No. 2 nationally in total offense, earned three Big South/OVC Player of the Week honors, and set both the school and conference single-game passing record with 564 yards against Lindenwood.

Following the 2024 season, Trevino was promoted to Offensive Graduate Assistant, continuing his work with the quarterback room and the offensive staff.

In 2025, Trevino played an important role in the recruitment and development of freshman quarterback Cason Carswell, who earned OVC/Big South Freshman Player of the Yearhonors, further demonstrating Trevino’s impact as a young quarterback developer.

Trevino graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Physiology and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Communications at Western Illinois University.
