Matt Risdon

Matt Risdon first joined Western Illinois University as a Leatherneck baseball player and has continued his career as a member of Ryan Brownlee’s coaching staff.
 
Risdon first worked as the Director of Baseball Operations, and in 2016-17 year moved into the Graduate Assistant role. He works with the catchers, hitting, assists with on- and off-campus recruiting, and all youth/prospect camps.
 
During his two-year playing career (2013-14), Risdon appeared in 40 games and started 15 times. A career .227 hitter, Risdon recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. He helped the Leathernecks advance to The Summit League Tournament championship game in 2014.
 
He began his career at Kishwaukee College as a two-year player. He earned All-Conference, All-Region, and Academic All-Conference honors during his career. As a sophomore he was named Kishwaukee’s ‘Athlete of the Year’.

Risdon earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Western Illinois and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Sport Management.
